The Indian government has cleared the largest ever microlight aircrafts deal in the world by ordering 94 microlights from a Slovenian firm.
Pipistrel won the tender and emerged as the lowest bidder the firm now has to supply 194 Virus SW80 microlights aircrafts for $162 million. Microlights are small fixed wing single engine aircrafts and are mainly used for adventure and training purposes.These aircrafts after being purchased will be distributed amongst the army, air force, navy and the NCC. In India they are only used for adventure activities by all the services but can also be used for recce and aerial surveillance.
